OIL BORE AT OMATA
OFFICIAL OPENING TO-DAY. Omata oil bore No. 1, the first bore in Taranaki established by Coal Oil (N.Z.) Ltd., is to be officially opened at 3 o’clock this afternoon by the Minister of Mines (Hon. W. A. Veitch). A large gathering of the public is expected and a bus and taxi service will be run from the post office from 1 p.m. onwards. In addition to the Minister of Mines the chairman of the company, Senator J. D. Millen, of Sydney, will be present and will take part in the function. This evening a semi-private dinner to commemorate the official opening will be held at the White Hart Hotel, where a toast list appropriate to the occasion will be honoured. Invitation holders are advised 'that the dinner will commence at 7.30 p.m. and not 7 p.m. as originally announced.
