The four emergencies for the North' Island trial will be given an opportunity to prove their claims in the second spell of the local game. ’■ Although McLean has left Taranaki and is located in Wellington, all Taranaki enthusiasts will be pleased to see this fine forward included in the Possibles team. It will cause some surprise if he does not go farther than that, Two of Taranaki’s other nominees in the forwards, J. W;>cr and Pat Ward, are well-known to the selectors. Both are playing very well this year. Baldwin' (Patea) has struck his best form, which he lias only to reproduce in representative : 'fbotball to make an impression on the New Zealand selectors, to whom he is hot well-known. On his form at the Close of last year and already early this season, , it looks -as though Brown should have been given a trial at 11 centre three-quarter. In the opinion-of many good judges the ex-All Black is at present playing better .football than he was at the time that he was selected ,to tour England with the All Blacks. However, he will also have his chance to convince the selectors of that in the match on May 24.
