Savage has left Tawhiwhi. ' Mr. Norris had suceftss with his dogs at the recent Ta rata dog trials. Walker Bros, have left after completing their fencing contract on the Tawhiwhi settlement. Airs. Johnstone is back, with her daughter, Airs. Savage, after an enjoyable holiday in the Waikato. Airs. Muggletou sailed on Friday for England. Air. Wallace and family, formerly of Whangamomona, have’ taken up their residence here. A plain and fancy dress ball organised by the Puniwhakau settlers in aid of the Obstetrical Society, was held in the Tututawa Hall on Tuesday night. Music was supplied by Boulton’s orchestra. Air. Bunn was master of ceremonies. Air. N. Jacobsen, as an Indian, and Airs. Welch, as a Spanish Dancer, carried off the prizes for best fancy dresses.- Air. and Airs. R. Savage were successful in the waltzing competition. Alembers of the Education Board visited the school on Tuesday. FIRE ON WARWICK ROAD. A house of seven rooms and the contents, owned by Messrs. McCarkell Bros., and occupied by Air. J. AlcDonald, Warwick Road, Stratford, were totally destroyed by fire on Tuesday. Air. and Airs. AlcDonald were in a paddock some distance from the house when the flames were observed. Nothing could be saved. The building was insured for £7OO in the London, Liverpool and Globe office, and there was a cover of £lOO on the contents. LADIES’ MEDAL GOLF MATCH.
