SCOT FIGHTS FOR PURSE
ATTACK IN SURBY HILLS. Though it contained only 3s. Id., ft 60 years-old Scotsman fought furiously to save his purse —-and he saved it, says a Sydney paper. He is a member of ft municipal corporation in Scotland and is touring the world. As he was walking alone in Foveaux Street, Surry Hills, three men sprang from the shadows and tripped him. His purse was. taken from him, but ho snatched it back. The three strangers returned to the attack. Again the Scotsman was tripped. Struggling to his feet, and still grasping his purse, he swung his fists with such effect that he eventually drove off his assailants. - . Though he had been kicked and punched he ran to the Regent Street police station, and a constable later arrested a man, who was charged with having attempted to steal.
