The Progress from Wellington for New Plymouth and Waikato is due at New Plymouth to-day and proceeds to Waikato, where she is due to-morrow. (Hooker Bros.) The Kaimiro loaded at Dunedin on Monday for New Plymouth, via Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Nelson. She -will proceed later to Westport. She is due at New Plymouth on Sunday. (U.S.S. Co.). The Totara loads at Lyttelton to-day for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, being due here about Monday. (U.S.S. Co.). The Kamona loads 450 tons of railway coal at Greymouth to-morrow, proceeding to New Plymouth, where she is due next Monday. She sails later for Auckland. (U.S.S. Co.). The John, from Dunedin, loads at Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington for New Plymouth, where she is due on May 7. She proceeds to Waikato, where she is scheduled to arrive on May 8. (Hooker Bros.) The Opihi loads at Dunedin on May 8, and via Oamaru, Timaru, Lyttelton. Wellington and Nelson is due at New Plymouth about May 14. (U.S.S. Co.).

ONEHUNGA FERRY SERVICE. After 55 years’ practically continuous service the Ngapnhi, of the New Ply-mouth-Onehunga ferry service, will arrive at New Plymouth with passengers and cargo for the last time this morning. The vessel will leave; for the northern port at 7 o’clock in the evening. She will then go to Auckland, and on May 5 will relieve the Clansman in the Russell service, while the latter ship undergoes overhaul. A cargo service will replace the Ngapnhi, and the Northern Company’s motor vessel Hauturu (264 tons), under the command of Captain Jackson Fowler, will arrive at New Plymouth on Tuesday. Thereafter the vessel will arrive at New Plymouth on Thursdays and Sundays, returning to Onehunga the same day.s As the vessel will depart from New Plymouth at 3 p.m. cargo must be at the goods shed not later than 9.30 a.m. on the day of sailing. In Onehunga cargo will be received up till 11 a.m. on the days of sailing, which will be Wednesdays and Saturdays. The vessel has a cargo capacity of 400 tens. MAIMOA TO-DAY. The Shaw, Savill Company’s Maimoa left Wanganui yesterday for New Plymouth and Wellington, to complete loading.. She is due at New Plymouth to-day and Wellington on May 6, and will now clear port finally on May 10 for Rotterdam and London, via the Panama Canal. The vessel will load 10,000 boxes of butter, 3660 crates of cheese- and 10,000 freight carcases of meat at New Plymouth. TARANAKI TO LOAD. To commence loading for Southampton and London the Shaw, Savill motorship Taranaki is due at New Plymouth on May 14. She will subsequently load at~ Auckland, Napier and Wellington.

TWENTY NEW TANKERS. Orders for 20 twin-screw tank motorships have been placed with British and yards by the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company, Ltd. Eight of these vessels are to be built at yards in the United Kingdom, two each at the respective yards of Messrs. R. and W. Hawthorn, Leslie and Co., Ltd., Messrs. Harland and Wolff, Ltd., Govan, Messrs. Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., Messrs. Workman, Clarke (1928), Ltd. Of the remaining vessels, eight are to be built in Holland by Burgerhout’s Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Rotterdam, one, Fijenoord Company, Rotterdam, two, Netherlands Shipbuilding Company, Amsterdam, two, P. Smit, Junior, Rotterdam, one, and Van der Giessen Zonen, Rotterdam, two. Two are to be built in Germany, one at the Deutsche Werke, Kiel, and the other at the Howardtewerke A.-G., Kiel. The remaining vessel is to be built in Italy at the Can-, tiere Navale Tristino, Monfalcone.,, The vessels will be larger than the 1 tankers at present in service for the AngloSaxon Petroleum Company, having a deadweight capacity of 11,500 tons each, and a length of 450 feet. In each case the propelling machinery will consist of two sets of six-cylinder four-stroke single-acting engines of the air injection type. The four Tyne-built vessels and those built on the Continent will be fitted with Werkspoor type engines fitted with the Werkspoor super-charg-ing system, while the -Harland Wolff vessels will be fitted with Harland B. and W. supercharged machinery, and supercharged engines-for the Workman, Clark vessels will be supplied by the North-Eastern Marine Engineering Company, Ltd. ■ PORT HARDY LEAVES TO-MORROW. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line vessel Port Hardy, which is loading at New Plymouth, is expected to leave for Wanganui late on Saturday, or on Sunday morning.
