MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.

During the week-end the Waitara Fire Brigade held a one-man competition for the Perica Challenge Cup, the winner being Fireman Terrill. Ten competed. Results are: —W. Terrill (scr) 66 3-ssec 1, W. Proctor (2scc) 68 2-ssec 2, J. Eriwata (9sec) 72 3-ssec 3. Proctor was unfortunate enough to incur five seconds penalty, otherwise he would have won.
Tommy Donovan, with Trainer A. S. McGregor, left on Tuesday morning for Dunedin to fulfil his engagement with Pete Sarron. The Waitara Bowling Club green during the week-end was .declared closed for the season and the green will receive attention in readiness for next season. There is a likelihood ot indoor bowls being initiated in the near future. The game would fill a gap for enthusiasts through the winter.
