Eight millions sterling will be spent by American film companies on film productions in England during the coming year, in addition to £3,0Q0,U00 in France and Germany. The chief reason is a necessity for finding an outlet for the immense pro. Its of the Paramount organisation, which were £12,000,000 for 1929. America is also convinced that talkies in European languages must be made in Europe, and the British quota law makes it probable that English production will be profitable, despite the serious blow to Hollywood
