TQURNAMENT AT MANUTAHI.

SHIELD WON BY TOKO.

Fine weather and fast and interesting football f characterised the Manutahi junior seven-a-side Rugby tournament, held on the domain yesterday. The Lovell and Christmas Shield and gold medals were Weu by the Toko team, wlio fought out the final with Okaiawa A, winning by 8 points to 3. The miniature cups for the runners-up were won by Manutahi in a play-off with Okaiawa. Excellent arrangements had. been made by the secretary, Air. M. Comerford, and the energetic committee, and a willing band of officials worked hard throughout the day to ensure the success of ‘ the function. . The catering arrangements were in the capable hands of Mr. H. L. Thomas (Patea). There was a good i.ttendarice, each team having its quota of supporters. Toko early pressed, off-side play giving A. Sangster a chance to goal. An easy kick failed. Good work by A. Clarke twice saved Alanutahi. R.* Cuff gained ground for Toko by a well-judged kick, but Alanutahi cleared. The bell sounded with no score and Toko on the offensive.

Play was even in the second spell until Toko backs broke away. Faulty handling spoiled the movement within striking distance, but from the ensuing scrum C. Wilmshurst scored well out. R.
