SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT
INVESTIGATION TO BEGIN.

Wellington, Last Night. The committee appointed by the Government to investigate the operation of the Shops and Offices Act in New Zealand will commence its*’sittings at Parliament House to-morrow morning.. The proceedings will be of a preliminary nature, and will include the arrangement of a suitable itinerary. The members of the committee ate Mr. A. J. Murdoch, M.P. (Chief Government Whip, chairman), Mr. C. 11. Clinkard (United Party, Rotorua), Mr. H. Holland (Reform, Christchurch North), Mr. E. J. Howard (Labour, Christchurch South), Mr. A. W. Croskery (representing the trades unions), Mr. A. S. Cookson (representing the employers’ associations), Mr. S. Eldridge (representing small shopkeepers) and Mr. W. Newton (secretary of the Labour Department).
