FINANCIAL TONE BETTER
GREATER OPTIMISM IN SYDNEY.
By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright Rec. 9.30 p.m. Sydney, April 29. The Stock Exchange at Sydney reopened to-day after the Easter vacation. The turnover was moderate, but there was a steadier tone. Much interest centred on the Commonwealth loans, nr which a general advance beyond the amount of accrued interest occurred. The possibility was freely discussed of reduction in the interest rate of Government securities and of the New Commonwealth loan being offered'to yield a fraction below six per cent. The improvement in the wool market and the rains in the parched areas produced a feeling of greater optimism.
