BUTTER PRICES ADVANCE
RISE OF 10S. DURING FORTNIGHT
RATE LIKELY TO BE MAINTAINED.
The butter market in London advanced by 6s. last week, and as announced ■in the News cables on Saturday; reached 140 s. Cables received by agents in Taranaki on Saturday announced that the market closed firm on Friday on a greatly improved demand.' Cheese advanced by 3s. to 4s. with an improved demand. ’ ; . -
The present demand seemed likely to be maintained, Newton King, Ltd., was advised. Salted was quoted at 128 s. to 1345. (120 s. to 1245. on April 11),- unsalted at 1365. to 1445. (1325. to 1365), wheys, firsts, at 1225. (1145.), and seconds at 120 s. (1125.). Coloured cheese was 80s. to 84s. (725. to 745.) and white 78s. to 81s. (70s. to 725.).
On Tuesday butter was 1265. and cheese 785., the Anglo-Continental Company was advised; on Friday butter was 1365. and cheese 82s. to 84s.
Creamery butter was 1375. to 1395., Collett and Company Was advised. White cheese was 80s. to 82s. arid, coloured 82s. to-84s. v '
