She left in the afternoon for Tarakohe. to load for Foxton. She is due back at New Plymouth on Thursday. (Hooker Bros.) The Totara loaded at Lyttelton on Wednesday for New Plymouth direct, and arrived yesterday. She will later proceed to Nelson. (U.S.S. Co.)

The Kaimiro loaded at Dunedin on Thursday -for New Plymouth, via Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Nelson, proceeding later to Westport. She is due at New Plymouth to-morrow. The Kanna arrived at New Plymouth from Westport on Friday. She will proceed to Wellington to complete 'discharge to-day. The Progress loads at Dunedin on Saturday and proceeds via Timaru, Lyttelton and Wellington for New Ply-' month and Waikato. She is due at New Plymouth on Friday. The John is due at New Plymouth from southern ports on Monday, and sails for the Waikato on Tuesday. (Hooker Bros.) ONEHUNGA FERRY SERVICE. The Ngapuhi, with’ passengers and cargo left New Plymouth for Onehunga on Saturday evening. When she returns to Onehunga from New Plymouth ;on May 3.the vessel will be withdrawn from the service. She will, then go to Auckland and relieve the Clansman in the Russell service on ..May 5, while the Clansman undergoes overhaul. The Ngapuhi will be replaced on the Onehunga run by the motor vessel Hauturu, which will run a bi-weekly cargo service between Onehunga and New Plymouth. PORT HARDY BERTHS. The Port Hardy (8705 tons), which left London on March 1 with general merchandise for New Zealand ports, berthed at the Newton King wharf at 8 a.m. yesterday from Wellington. She will load 4700 crates of cheese and 21.000 freight carcases of meat after discharging. Collett and Co. are the agents. RUAHINE’S ACCOMMODATION. During the last visit to England of the New . Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine, now' at Auckland, a considerable improvement was made to the second-class passenger accommodation, 'Which has been- altered to provide for only 41 passengers instead of 82. This was brought about by removing two. berths from each of the four-berth cabins and one from each of the twbberth cabins. This makes the conditions much more roomy, as passengers are now carried only in two-berth and single-berth cabins in this class. The cabins have all been redecorated, and the wardrobes, dressing tables and mirrors have been renewed. Some of the two-berthed cabins have been enlarged. The second-class entrance lounge has also been enlarged. THE GOVERNMENT STEAMERS.

The Government motor-ship Maui Pomare arrived at Wellington on Friday morning from Apia and.Niue, via Dunedin and. Lyttelton, and berthed at the Taranaki Street wharf. She left again on Saturday for Auckland, where she will dock for overhaul. The Tutanekai will leave Wellington to-day for the Cook Strait lighthouses. She will be away about 10 days. The vessel will then visit the southern lighthouses.
