RIOTS IN INDIA
GRAVE CLASHES CONTINUE BRITISH AND NATIVES KILLED PESHAWAR MOB RUNS WILD TROOPS CONTROLLING CITY By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Delhi, April 24. Serious riots continue in India. In a clash between Pathans, Sindhi and Mohammedans at Sikkur a Pathan was killed and three were wounded. Two British eoldiere were burned to death in armoured ears, twelve were killed and twelve were injured at Peshawar. There seems little doubt that the Peshawar mob was emboldener! by the reluctance of the authorities to fire. A huge mob surrounded the armoured cans and poured kerosene over them. They were completely- destroyed. Indian papers report very heavy casualties. It is reported a British sergeant was pulled from a motor-cycle by the mob and murdered with an axe. Additional troops were called out and opened fire with ma-chine-guns. The situation wag soon under control and the military have taken possession of the city. All entrances to the city are guarded.
When the news reached Lahore a monster demonstration was held there. During the demonstration five Moslems and two of the British were injured.
