FAREWELL TO REV CHARTERIS.

PRESENTATION AT SOCIAL.

. A farewell social organised by Mrs, R. >Stuart was tendered on Thursday to the Rev. J. and Mrs. Chartcris, who ar# shortly leaving Inglewood for the Souttj** Island. There was a large gathering pren sided over by Mr. Stuart. A much appreciated programme wa# rendered by the following artists:-*! Mr. Cocker, Miss Pettit, Mr. D. M#h Allister, Miss Jean Mcßae, Mr. P. Fred* ric, Miss Officer, Mr. Cleland, Mis# Beadle, Mr. 0. Evans, Miss Charterity Mrs. Bjorngaard, Miss Paterson and Mis# R. Nicholls.

Mr. Stuart expressed regret at th# departure of Air. and Mrs. Charteris. A# a token of the esteem in which they : were held, Mr. Stuart handed the guest# a well-filled wallet.

BACHELOR’S CARNIVAL DANCE.

GREAT SUCCESS ACHIEVED.

Tho bachelors’ dance on Thursday night in connection with the carnival was probably the most successful funcx tion of its kind ever held in Inglewood. Over £5O was taken at the door and a# 2 o’clock the next morning when th# music ceased tho hall was still filled with over 250 people. The street outside tho hall was gailj 1 decorated with coloured lights and about eighty cars were parked there. Tho hall inside was decorated for the occasion and its appearance was enhanced by th# bizarre and beautiful fancy costumes of manv of the dancers.

Eighteen tables were engaged at th# euchre. The prizes were won by Mrs, J. Dodunski (I), Mrs. W. Lile (2), Mr, D. Crozier (1) and Mr. Potroz (2). The secretary of the carnival stated yesterday that the bachelors hoped t# be able to give, to be divided between the obstetrical endowment fund and th# radio fund, about £lOO. This was con* siderod most satisfactory.

Tho winner of the £3 3s prize for th# best display of carnival spirit, Miss B« Coles, donated tho sum to the funds.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CHANGE,

INDUCTION OF NEW MINISTER.

The induction of the new minister, the Rev. R. Stuart-Keenan, will take plat# in the Inglewood Presbyterian Church on Monday. The local work of the Presbyterian Church up till the present has been carried on under the mission eta-: tion system by which homo missionaries have received their appointments, here. Now the charge has been raised to an extension charge so the position of min* ister to the congregation will be a fully qualified one. BOWLS AGAINST PARITUTU. Tho following finks will represent Inglewood in a friendly match with Paritutu at Inglewood to-day:— Drake, J. Huckcr, D. Egarr, J. Allanj G. Mason, W. Street, P. Bishop, R. Dar* low; W.
