CONTROL OF SWIMMING

DOMINION ASSOCIATION MEETS. IMPORTANT DECISIONS MADE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Jan. 29. The annual conference of the centres of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association .was held this morning. A remit that the head centres of the Royal Life-Saving Society be granted free affiliation was lost. A Wellington remit that the remits approved at the conference'by a fourfifths majority become law was carried and recommended to the council. A Wellington remit- was carried that an officer be appointed under the control of the Education Department for the organisation of swimming in schools and the instruction of teachers and pupils, the number of physical instructors to bo increased and the education boards empowered to avail themselves of the opportunity of utilising the servicee of the present educational officers by relieving such teachers of other school duties during part' of February. On a remit submitted by the council it was decided that the junior and intermediate championships be separated from, the senior championships, two sections to be held in the South and North Islands alternately. In view of the change it was decided that the question of the location of the championships be referred back to the centres.

It was decided that the practice of keeping two 6ets of records be discontinued, fresh water records to be abol-

ished. It was deckled to issue to Dominion title holders official blazers at their own cost on application to the council. Mr. Coira was asked to report on the conflict of the diving rules of the New Zealand Council, the International -Federation and the Amateur Diving Association of Great Britain.
