ARGUMENT OVER ORGANIST
DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL DISPUTE. ■ By Telegraph.— Frees Association. ■ Dunedin, Last Night. At a meeting of the. Dunedin City Council to-night the much debated question regarding the appointment, of a city organist came up for further consideration. On the first occasion the matter was discussed a vote ’ resulted in favour of Mr. Paget Gale .being appointed. It was subsequently held that the donor of the organ had Expressed that another local'-applicant sEro'n'/d receive the position and the motion, to reverse the previous decision Was considered to-night. The business was taken in committee and tlie motion to . rescind the previous motion was carried.
The position now Is that Dr. Price, Melbourne, will act as. organist for six months from February I, and the question of a permanent appointment may or may not be considered at the expiry of that period.
