.CONFERENCE ON ECONOMICS CANADIAN MAKES SUGGESTION. NEW'ZEALAND PROPOSED VENUE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 9.35 p.m. Brisbane, Jan. 17. A suggestion that the four British countries in the Pacific- —Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Canada —should hold an economic conference, say in New Zealand or Fiji, was made by Mr. J. McDonald, chairman of the Canadian lumber delegation which is visiting Australia, during a conference with the Brisbane Chamber of Commerce to-day. There was no subject of greater interest to Canadian business people than Empire trade, said Mr. McDonald. He- emphasised that such trade should be carried in British ships if Britain was to retain supremacy of the seas.
