TEACHERS’ SUMMER SCHOOL

PROGRESS OF THE PROGRAMME. The- opening session of rtho teachers’ summer school in New Plymouth yesterday was devoted to an address by Mr, M. R. McKenzie on “Native Education Abroad.” The remainder of the morning was occupied by the group study circles. A well attended lecture on music was given by Mr. H. Hollinrako in the afternoon in the assembly hall of the Girls’ High School. Later the lady teachers in residence at “Scotlands” gave an “at homo” to other teachers not resident in the school camps. TO-DAY’S PROGRAMME. J a.m. to 9.45 a.m.—Mr. P. Smyth, lecture on Maori Education. Group Studies. 9.5 a.m. to 10.45 a.m.—Section A, 10.45 a.m. to 11 a.m.—lnterval. 11 a.m. to 12 noon.—Section B. 1.15 p.m. to 2 p.m. —Music, Mr. 11, Ho'llinrakc, assembly hall, Girls’ High School. Afternoon. —Trip to Waitara, Mr. W. H. Skinner (visit to fresh air school tn journey). 8 p.m.—The women entertain the men in tho Assembly Hall. SUNDAY PROGRAMM E’. 9 a.m.—'Church service conducted by Canon Strong at St. Mary’s Church. 5.15 p.m.—lllustrated 'lantern lecture by Professor 'l'. D.
