KING’S THEATRE STRATFORD. “HOLD YOUR MAN.” Laura La Plante again asserts her right to the title of queen of film comediennes by her performance in “Hold Your Man,” Universal’s hilarious dialogue farce-comedy which opens at j the King’s Theatre this afternoon. “Hold |

j Your Man” is a fast-moving picture replete with amusement from start to I finish. It is a story of the domestic rift in the lives of a young American couple caused by the wife's determination to go to Paris to study art. There she meets a romantic foreigner. Later her husband and the girl he intends to marry as soon as a Paris divorce clears the way, arrive. A heavy rainstorm imprisons in one apartment the participants in the romantic mix-up and complications of a highly entertaining nature follow in rapid succession. Miss La Plante gives her usual distinguished performance in one of the happiest roles of her career. In one of the most laughable sequences of the picture she exercises her talent for mimicry to the fullest possible extent. ELTHAM MUNICIPAL THEATRE. A highly exciting and unusual Western picture in the “Wagon Master” will be screened at the Eltham Municipal Theatre to-night, and stars Ken Maynard . Maynard and his famous horse “TarJSan” perform many thrilling,.stunts in a story which is well off the beaten track of Western pictures. The plot concerns the trade rivalry of wagon trains, the organisations of freighters which carried supplies to isolated' mining caanps in the early days of the West. One of the most dramatic sequences depicts a whip fight between Maynard and his rival in love, played'by Al Ferguson. .There is. plenty of romantic interest iii the picture. Maynard’s leading lady is Edith Roberts, an actress of experience and unusual charm. Maynard’s freighters form a hard-ridiiig, hard-fighting crowd, afraid of nothing when it comes to putting a punch into a picture. Many of them have been with Maynard for years, and have had plenty of experience leading the adventurous life depicted in the- films. This is one of the most fast moving and exciting Westerns we have shown but not overdone or far-fetched and is a first class entertainment.
