AUSTRALIAN TRIALS BEGUN. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Rec. 10.35 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 17. A tennis carnival is in progress here, at which there will be Davis Cup trials. To-day’s results are:— Cummings (Queensland) beat E. Rowe (South Australia) 6—4, 6 —4, 6—3. Crawford and Moon defeated Hopman and Willard 11—9, B—6, 6—2.
