OPUNAKE NEWS
SEASIDE FETE. A beach fete will be held at Opunake next Wednesday. This is the annual function arranged by. the Opunake Seaside Improvement Society in an effort to obtain funds to maintain the beach as a popular resort for visitors. In confident anticipation of receiving liberal patronage, a good programme of attractions has been drawn up, including children’s races, treasure hunt, musical chairs, and a new beach game “sack ball.” The latter is very popular at watering places in England, and will be played at Opunake for the first time in New Zealand.
The Opunake band will play a musical programme throughout the day, and in the evening a dance will be held at the Beach Pavilion, Coburn’s Star Orchestra having been engaged for the occasion. f •
