CALEDONIAN GATHERING
SPORTS DAY AT PUKEKL’RA PARK
The fourth annual gathering of the Taranaki Caledonian Sports Association, which is to be staged at Pukekura Park on February 1 presents a wide range of events, and with £145 distributed in prize money this year entries should be-drawn from all over the North Island.
Highland dancing and music will lend a colourful atmosphere to the gathering, and a number of these events will be decided throughout the day. It is understood that prominent dancers and players “doing the circuit” will be present, and the events should be keenly contested.
The organisers, realising the interest taken in athletics in Taranaki, 15 amateur events are carded, and in addition three professional cycle races will bo decided. The New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club has given support in the amateur events, and evwy member of the club has entered. Tlie Stratford and Hawera clubs should, be strongly represented, while it is expected athletes from Wanganui will also be in attendance.
for the amateur athletic events close with Mr. C. N. Pryor, New Plymouth, to-morrow, while Mr. J. Corkiil (secretary of the sports) will receive nominations for the Highland events.
