MARY BELLE'S A.B.C.'S.
To-day I tried to teach the A-B-C To little sister. Mary Belle, who’s three Years old. “ ‘A’ stands for auks,” 1 f said, '’ and at And apples, axes, arms, and things like
that,” Just like my reader says. But Mary
Belle Then said, “Why, £ don’t like them
very well— Those axes, arms and apples.’’ So I took The “ ; B s.” “ : B’ stands for bunnies, buns -—why look,” I said,, “its stands for birds, and bumble bees, And brothers, bow-wows and banana
trees.” Then Mary Bell just clapped, her hands
and cried, “0, I just love the B’s.” And them I
tried To explain the “C's.” “They stand for
caps and crows. And cats, and cows,” I said. Do you
suppose That Mary Bel! would try to learn the
“C’s?” SI said, “leks only learu about the
■B's’!" And so I told her of the babies sweet, And breezes, berries —other things to
eat. And then I told her all about the “D’s,” And “E’s,” and. and also about tho “Q’s,” And what they stand for. But she’d always say, “Please tell mo just about tho ‘B’s/ and stay Right there,” And so I fear that Mary
Belie Won’t know her A-C-D’s so awfully welL
