ON THE MOUNTAIN.

CHiy.STMAS AT NORTHERN HOUSE

Christmas Day at North Mount Egmont Hostelry was very merry and bright and thoroughly enjoyed by several parties, as well as by the guests staying for the holidays. The hostelry was gaily decorated with flowers, native foliage and bright coloured balloons, and the many guests appreciated to the full the good things arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Lorimer.

Breakfast to start the day was accompanied with Christmas carols on the gramophone. Short walks were the order of the afternoon, and dinner was quite a festive deeasion. The climax of the day was reached with dancing and music, interspersed with a pleasant chat and supper, so ended one of the most lightful Christmas days at the mountain house. Overseas guests will always remember with much pleasure their visit to, and Christmas festivities at. the noble Mount Egmont. As well as the guests at the hostelry, there was a party from the camp house, and later in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Strang brought a party from New Plymouth, and dancing went merrily on until the mountain resounded with music and revelry. Included in the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Blakesley (England); Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Graham, Napier; the Misses Carthew, Horner, Stevenson, Greatbatch and Smythe and Messrs. Craig and Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs. Strang’s guests were Misses Fitzherbert and Sladden, Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Strang, Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey Strang, Mr. and Mrs. Colin Strang, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Atkinson, Messrs. Hargrove, Martin Hargrove, Platts-Mills and others.
