UPPER MANGOREI.

The Mangorei hall drew parents and visitors to the annual concert on December 19. For weeks the children had been'rehearsing for the concert. Perhaps they hardly realised how ambitious was the main feature of the programme, but to the adult mind the standard attained was exceptionally high and the manner in which the children carried through their parts was a splendid tribute to their own abilities and the system of teaching in vogue at the school.

The parents must be commended for the manner in which they attended to the costumes.
At the conclusion of the entertainment Mr. Pearce and Miss Jones presented each scholar with a book. As a mark of appreciation of the able and kindly manner in which their teacher (Miss Jones) had taught them during the year she was given a handsome present on behalf of the children.
Supper was subsequently served, and dancing and games finished the evenins.
