A. E. BROWN' IN FORM. WINS TWO CUPS AT STRATFORD. A. E. Brown, of Alahoe, won both the Whittle Memorial Cup and the Dunbar Cnp in the respective shoots held by the Stratford- Gun Club at Christmas, after tiring in the first instance with F. Casey (Ekliam), and with A. Nelson (Stratford) in the second match. Tn the shoot-off Brown, Casey and Nelson went, to their marks together and each scored with the first barrel for the first round Nelson then had .. 'use his second barrel, and Casey and Brown again broke with their first. This left Brown the winner of the Dunbar Cup, whereupon the finals were continued to deride the winner of the 30-bird match for tire Whittle Memorial Cup. Casey and Brown both broke their birds in the first round and both missed in the. second. With wonderfully accurate marksmanship they broke bird ivr bird until the ninth round, when Casey missed a very low right-angle bird. Brown thus also secured a right to have his name engraved on the Whittle Cup for the year In presenting the cups to Mr. Brown, Mr. A. Nelson, president of the club, extended hearty congratulations and complimented the winner upon his highly meritorious performance of breaking 27 out of 30 birds and then losing only one in the following 1.1 birds. Cheers were given for the winner and runnersup. Afternoon tea was served by Misses Myrtle and Lou Nelson. ’ . Following are the details of the shooting :— Nine-bird Match.—A.
