AUCKLAND MAN’S SURVEY. FINE PROSPECTS IN WAIKATO. (By Wire—Special to News.) Auckland; Last Night. “The year now drawing to a close must me regarded as having been very satisfactory from the dairy producer’s point of view,” remarked Mr. C. J. Parlane, general manager of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., in an interview. “Weather conditions during last autumn and this season up to the present have been very favourable to big production, and the generous rainfall, coupled with a liberal use of fertiliser, resulted in a prolific growth of grass.” . _ Mr. Parlane said that quite recently he had the opportunity of inspecting a number of farms in the Atiamuri and Reporoa districts. The results achieved through the use of fertiliser in this light pumice country were simply astounding. He prophesied a future for these districts. “Prices, too,” said Mr. Parlane, “have been reasonably good, and they have ranged at a higher level than was expected, this being largely due to dry seasons in Argentina and Australia curtailing production in those countries. However, prices are. now declining, and as Australia is reported -> experiencing a very good season for .production, it appears that lower prices for butter can be looked for for .somemonths to come. We have been fortunate in securing a satisfactory market in Canada this season for a very large quantity of New Zealand butter, which has resulted in the British market' being, relieved considerablv.”

In regard to cheese, Mr. Parlane stated that the forward position appeared to be reasonably satisfactory.
