BARNARDO’S HOMES’ FUNDS

COLLECTIONS AT FITZROY. The annual box-opening of the Fitzroy habitation of the Young Helpers’ League took place at the school on Friday, when £2l was collected from the boxes. It was obvious that members take a keen interest in Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. Owing to illness several members’ boxes have not been opened, so that the above amount will be considerably increased when school re-opens. A picnic on the beach was to be held on the box-opening day, but owing to stormy weather it has been abandoned until the close of the holidays. The highest collectors were George Taylor £1 Ils 2d, David Kibby £1 7s Dd, Alma Cunningham 14s, Beulah Davy Ils fid, Muriel Lister Ils, Joyce Milne 10s, Winnie Mack 9s 9d, Berie Mander 8s sd, Mavis Cubbon 8s Ijd, Sydney Styles Bs, Reggie Holswich 7s fid, David Howlett 7s Id, Elsie Crapper Old. The following have qualified for silver badges: Ruth Aburn, Jack Gatland, Willie Coombes, Colin Colson, David Kibby, Mavis Cubbon, Hazel Smith, Boyd O’Rielly, Freda Bint and Gladys Kinsella.

Silver knives have been earned by Alma Cunningham and George Taylor.
