NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL DECISION. BRIDSON’S RECORD ACCEPTED. / By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Dec. 19. The council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association to-night confirmed its previous ruling that men employed as beach patrols lose their amateur status. It. was decided to defer giving effect to the ruling until the matter had been referred to the International Federation for a mandatory direction. The performance of G. Bridson (Auckland) in swimming 440 yards in smin 1G 3-ssee was passed as a New Zealand salt water record.
