NORMANBY SCHOOL GAIETY BREAKING-UP BALL HELD, PRESENTATION OF THE PRIZES. The gay colouring of the fantastic costumes worn by Normanby school child- ■ ren in numerous folk dances made a picturesque scene at the town hail last night when the Normanby school fancy dress ball was held. The manner in which the children performed their dances pleased the large attendance of parents and friends and spoke well for the careful tuition given them by their . teachers. Mr A. E. Spratt thanked the staff ’ for the good work done during the year and said the number of passes gained was evidence that the teachers had been . doing their work thoroughly. He expressed regret that Miss Wells was leav- . ing tho school. He wished her success in the future, presenting her with a gift from her pupils. . ' The cup won by the school for the . 'best school garden was presented to the headmaster by Mr. Spratt, as was also \ a banner won by the school for the best team of school ponies at the Egmont show. Master . The Hawera Amateur Swimming Club held its weekly club evening at the municipal baths last night before a good attendance of the public Entries were good and. competitions clean. Messrs. A.
