Discretionary powers regarding 'the teaching of Esperanto in public schools after regular hours was given to school committees by a resolution of the Auckland Education Board to-day. The holding of volunteer, classes after school had been the subject of a request from the Auckland Esperanto Association, and a meeting of the executive committee of the board recommended that the decision be left to individual committees. . “I think school children are learning as much as they can without stuffing, their heads with anything more,” said Mr. H. S. W. King. 'The chairman, Mr. A., Burns, said the executive considered there were sufficient safeguards in leaving discretion to local committees.
