HIGH SCHOOL CONTROL
STRATFORD BOARD MEETS.
The monthly meeting of the board of managers of the Stratford District Hign School was held last ■ night, Mr. H. Trimble (chairman) presiding. The new mower was working perfectly, stated the principal’s report. Unfortunately it was damaged soon after delivery, but with the aid of the machine shop Mr. F. Bowler repaired the damage and made the machine as good as new. With the new mower all the grass in the grounds could be cut in one day, as against the three days taken formerly. Fifteen applications for a vacancy otr the staff had been received, Mr. J. McAllister reported on behalf of the appointments committee. The committee had selected Mr. A. White, M.A., Dunedin. The selection was endorsed.
Miss E. Moon was appointed music mistress.
Questioned by Mr. A. Fergusson, the principal, Mr. A. H. R. Amcss replied that the staff and the pupils considered the matriculation papers satisfactory. Mr. Amess stated that the girls’ hostel had practically paid its way during the year. , . ,
The prize-giving evening will be held on Thursday, when Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., will distribute the prizes.
