MAORI ASSAULTS NIECE
IMPRISONMENT FOR SIX MONTHS.

A full-blooded Maori, Taukuriki, aged 27, commonly known as Krooki, was charged with assaulting a young Maori girl, aged 10, with tntent to commit a crime.
Evidence was given by the girl and by her i mother, sister and brother. The girl’s mother is a sister of Krooki’s. The justices of the peace stated they took a very serious view of the case, and sentened Krooki to six months’ hard labour.
