During the heavy rains, which to the pastures have been of incalculable benefit, the grass has come on particularly well, and it seems there will be some record cuts. The dairy stock is °mg much better than earlier in the season, and those who go in for fattening lan ba expect to send the first f ts away during the next week or so. Shearing is well under way, and although the continued wet weather has temporarily delayed that important work, the flocks in the district will soon be finished. The roadmen are widening and taking off bad corners preparatory to grading and re-metalling.
