Byng Crowle on behalf of his son expressed thanks for the friendly welcome they had received. He could assure them that his son would put up a good fight, win or lose. Tommy Crowle also briefly replied. The Manawatu Boxing Association wrote under date of December 2 stating that it understod the Taranaki Association was desirous of matching Dono van and Sarron, but owing to a deadlock with Wellington was unable to arrange the bout. If Taranaki would release Donovan to fight at Palmerston North on December 26 the Manawatu Association could secure the release of Sarron from Wellington to fight at New Plymouth against Donovan. The association asked that the suggestion be treated as urgent. — The chairman reported that when in Wellington he, with Mr. Pruden and Mr. Carr, had met the members of the Wellington committee and had discussed various matters. The Wellington Association had stated it was prepared to forego the Sarron-Donovan bout and suggested that the Taranaki Association should agree to the first Sarron-Donovan bout being staged at Palmerston North on December 26 and that it could allow Sarron to meet Donovan in the return bout at New Plymouth on a date to be arranged. The members of the Taranaki committee had urged the claims of New Plymouth to the first bout, but had agreed to bring the suggestion before their committee.

Tho matter was discussed at length and it was finally resolved that after due consideration the Wellington Association bo informed that the Taranaki Association regretted it was unable to agree to tho suggestion. Tho following amateur bouts were arranged, replies having been received that all tho boxers were available: — W. Brosnan v. L. Dombroski; McGregor v. Hutchens; A. Furze v. Bert Goodwin; B. Turner v. T. Carr; D. Roebucß v. K. Reid; S. Cavanagh v. S. Brcreton: Moffatt v. Paterson, It was resolved to ask Mr. Maxwell to referee.
