“MIRROR” CAUSES DISASTER. ' ONE PASSENGER DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rome, Nov. 21. The optical illusion which air pilots call “a mirror” caused disaster to a flying boat in the Ostia —Sardinia service. When descending at the entrance of the harbour of Terra Nova the pilot was unable to gauge the height from the water owing to the sheen thereon, and the machine overturned. Motor boats dashed out and caved seven passengers and four of the crew. The eighth passenger, Count Enrico Pilicry, was drowned. All the saved were injured. They included the Under-Secretary of War, Signor Manaresi, • who is slightly, injured, and Deputy Ferri, who suffered a broken leg.
