CROWLE TO MEET DONOVAN

AUSTRALIAN FEATHER CHAMPION. The Taranaki Box'ing Association has arranged to bring T. Crowle, the Australian featherweight champion, across the Tasman to meet Tommy Donovan at New Plymouth about December 12. At a meeting of the executive of the association last night it was reported that arrangements ha.l been finalised and that the passage money had been cabled to the Taranaki association’s representative- in Sydney. Crowle, with his manager, Chapman, will be leaving Australia for New Plymouth in a few days. This bout should prove a great attraction, as Crowle has already defeated Doble, whose meetings with Donovan will long be remembered. The contest will be for the maximum purse.. There were present at the meeting Messrs. J. Garcia (chairman), T. Campbell, R. Harvey, W. Roebuck, A, F. Aldie, G. A.-Clarke, W. Searle and E. J. Carr (honorary secretary). Donovan will leave on Wednesday for Ashburton, where he will meet Hector Leckie in a return bout on Friday, November 29. The bout had been fixed for last night but, owing to the injury sustained by Donovan, who was cut above the eye, the fixture was postponed for a week. Donovan, who is now very fit, will be accompanied by Mr. Angus McGregor, who has seen him through all his bouts so far. It is understood that a couple of members of the Taranaki association will also make the trip.
