£4W!) RAISED IN TWELVE HOURS; The movement to prevent the sale of Scots’ College, Wellington, to the State is reported to be gaining momentum. A meeting of a special committee was held, on Thursday afternoon, when it was announced that as a result of twelve hours’ effort £4OOO had been contributed to the “save the college’’ fund. A strong executive was elected to organise the canvassing, which will cover the whole of the Wellington province. It is confidently hoped tihat this effort will result in the ±IO,WO required being found within tho next fourteen days. It was also resolved that a large deputation of well-wishers and friends of the college should wait upon the Minister of Education upon his return to Wellington to endeavour to secure from him a release from the ageement to sell into which the trustees had entered.
