LAUGHTER ROCKS COMMONS
MR. BALDWIN AND HIS SON. WEALTH DISTRIBUTION MOTION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rcc. 11 p.m. . London, Nov. 21. The loudest laughter heard for many days in the House of Commons convulsed members this afternoon. On a ballet for private members’ motions Mr. Stanley Baldwin’s Socialist son Oliver was one <f the successful balloters. He stood up and solemnly announced ‘‘l give notice of motion on the distribution of wealth.” Oliver was at the -extreme corner of the back bench among the Socialist Left Wingers. He immediately sat down without a smile. The whole House roared with laughter and all eyes were concentrated on Oliver’s father, the late Conservative Premier, who was leaning back in the seat of the Leader of the Opposition with his feet stretched out against a table on the floor of the House, directly opposite Mr. Ramsay. McDonald who, with Mt. Stanley Baldwin, joined in the uproarious laughter. Oliver alone took the thing seriously.
