The Melbourne Cup (total value including forfeits, £9222) and a third in the Melbourne Stakes placed owner A. Louisson at the head of winning owners at the V.R.C. spring meeting with £9372. Then came H. R. Telford (PharLap) £5450, W. Pearson (Amounis) £4730; Mrs. L. R. Buxton (High Syce and Highland) £2626; C. W. Wheeler £.2225; H. A. Knight £2OOO. # « * Amounis has been kept busy travelling between the States; his recent onslaught on the V.R.C. weight-for-age races marked his eighth- visit to Melbourne. He has won £31,880 in stake money and must be considered one of the most successful horses raced in Australia. In winning the Linlithgow Stakes on his fourth start in that race he completed three wins and a second, and it took the champion Gothic to beat him last year!
