LIVE STOCK MARKETS. ADDINGTON PRICES. ALL "FATS” DECLINE. f Christchurch, Nov. 20. A feature of the Addington market today was a decline in the values of all four "fat” sections—fat cattle, fat sheep, fat pigs, and fat lambs. The fall in beef and mutton prices was a big one. Store Sheep. —A good yarding, comprised of mostly shorn wethers. There was only a fair sale, which, was very dragging towards the finish, Ewes witli lambs showed an increase of up to Is on the previous sale. Other values wcic much the same as recent ruling rates. Values were: Good crossbred wether hoggets (woolly), to 245; ordinary three-quarter-bred ewo hoggets (woolly), to 245; ordinary halfbred ewo hoggests (woolly) to 22s fid; ordinary halfbied ewe hoggets (shorn), to 21s lOd; backward wether hoggets (shorn), 12s to 14s; good 4 and'G-tooth Romney cross wethers (shorn), 21s 9d to 24s 6d; good 4, 0 and 8-tooth halfbred wethers (shorn), 20s 9d to 22s 3d; aged halfbred ewes with lambs (shorn) 10s 3d to 14 s; aged half bred ewes with lambs (woolly), 13s 6d to 15s; ordinary 2 and 4-tooth dry half bred ewes (shorn), to 21s. Fat Lambs. —There was an entry of 920 head. Values showed a fall on last sale to 8 3 /ad to 9d per lb. Fat Sheep.—An entry .of 6300 head. With, few exceptions all were shorn. The market opened with values down about Is on the last sale, and at the close ewes were back by 2s 6d to 3s, and wethers up to 2s. Extra prime wethers made to 335; prime wethers, 29s to 31s Gd; medium wethers, 25s to 28s 6d; light wethers, 20s to 245; extra prime ewes to 28s Cd; prime ewes, 21s 6(1 to 255; ordinary ewes, 19s 6d to 21s; light ewes, 17s to 19s; best woolly wethers to 36s ICd; best woolly ewes to 34s Id; ordinary woolly ewes, 25s to 30s; light woolly ewes, 22s to 24s Gd. FAT CATTLE DOWN. Fat Cattle: An entry of 506 head, including over 100 from the North Island., The general quality was good. The market for all classes again eased in marked fashion. Steers were down by 30s a head, cows were up OOs a head, and heifers by 20s a head. Best mediumweight prime beef made 42s to 44s per 10011), and a few pens of light heifers a little more; good medium-weight prime beef, 30s to 41s; heavy steer beef, 37s to 40s; good cow beef to 375; secondary, 32s to 345; light and rough, to -3Os. Extra prime heavy steers made to £22 7s (kl; heavy prime steers, £l7 to £l9 10s; medium- weight prime steers, £l6 to £l7 lOs; ordinary steers, £l2 to £l5 10s; light steers, £9 to £ll 15s; show heifer, £l9 7s Cd; extra prime heifers, to £l6 7s 6d; prime heifers, £l3 5s to £l5; ordinary heifers, £ll 10s to £l3; light heifers, £6 10s to £11; extra prime cows to £l6 17s Cd; prime cows, £l3 5s to £l4 15s; medium prime cows, £lO 10s to £l3; light and aged, £5 15s to £lO ss. Vealers: There was a heavy entry. Good calves sold well, but for others the market was dragging. The top price was £lO 16s. Good vealers made £4 to £5; best calves, to £2 10s; and others, 10s to 305., Store Cattle: A medium entry of poor quality. The sale was lifeless, and there were many passings. Best fresh cows made to £8 10s. Heifers were scarce, and the best made £B. There was a big yarding of bulls, and in the main these sold well. Polling bulls made up to £lO Ils. Dairy cattle: An entry of GO head of fair quality. An irregular market with prices much the same as at last sale. Values were: Good second and third calvers, £ll to £l2 10s; medium second and third calvers, £9 to £10; aged and inferior cows, £5 to £8; best heifers, to £l3 10s; good heifers, £lO 10s to £l2; others, £7 to £9 10s. Fat pigs: A large entry of baconers and porkers. The demand was a little easier and prices showed a slight decline. Values were: Choppers, £2 10s to £6 3s Gd; baconers, £3 7s to £4 19s 6d; average price per lb. 6|d to 7d; porkers, 42s to 62s Cd; average price per lb., 7 J / 2 d to Bd. Store pigs: Large stores were in short supply, and met with spirited confpetition. There was a largo entry of weaners and slips. Values were: stores, 40s to COs; others, 29s Gd to 39 s; slips, 20s to 28s Cd; good weaners, 21s Cd to 24s Cd; others, 15s Cd to 20s; sows in pig, £2 to £3 15s.

BURNSIDE MARKET. MARKET VERY FIRM. t Dunedin, Nov. 20. There was a very firm market at the Burnside sales to-day, all classes of fat stock being sold at prices satisfactory to producers. Tho fat cattle market has firmed to a marked ’ degree during tho past two or three weeks, and to-day’s sale resulted in prime heavy cattle being sold at a furthed advance of about 10s per head. Tho yarding numbered 327 head, and consisted of a fair proportion of prime heifers and cows, and a few extra quality heavy bullocks. The opening sales were brisk and the market stood firm until the close... . It was a double market to-day for all classes of stock as next week’s will bo omitted on account of the summer show. Prime Jieavy bullocks sold up to: £26 12s (kl; medium, £22; light, £l9; ss; heavy heifers, £l6 ss; medium, £l4 ss; light, £l3; heavy cows, £l6; medium, £l4; li'ght, £l5 ss. Prime ox beef sold to 57s Cd per lOOib, There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep. The number offered was 2057, and comprised good show wethers and a few shorn ewes and. some extra prime sheep in wool. Tho yarding also included a number of special show sheep,, but the bulk of the entry was shorn. Opening prices wore well in advance of last week’s rates. Primo medium wethers in wool were firm, and although values eased’ slightly during the sale tlie market firmed to the opening rate before the close. Extra prime wethers in wool sold up to 54s 7d; prime 60s; medium, 44s Cd; light, 36s Cd; prime ewes in wool, 43s Gd; medium, 80s fid; light, 31s. Prime shorn wethers sold up to 40s fid; medium, 375; light, 31s; prime shorn ewes, 33s 7d; medium, 28s; light, 20s. Best shorn wethers sold up to 5%d per lb. The'lamb entry numbered 360 head of very fair to prime quality. The yarding also included a few small animals. There

was a buoyant sale and prices were on a par with those obtained at the previous sale. Prime lambs made up to 395; medium, 31s; unfinished sorts, 255. All prime lambs sold up to about Is per lb. About 250 store cattle were offered. The yarding included about 50 two and three-year-old steers, the balance comprising forward cows and mixed sorts. There was a fair demand for best grades of steers and cows, but medium sorts met with a slow sale. Three-year-old steers sold up to £lO 15s. Tho pig entry comprised 126 fats and 07 stores. There was a good demand for all prime sorts, prices being the same as those reported at the previous sale. Primo baconers and porkers sold up to about 9d_ per lb. Store p’.gs also met with a ready sale. JOHNSONVILLE PR ICES. At Johnsonville on Tuesday, Messrs. \\ right Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., submitted to a large attendance of the public a very full yarding of all classes of stock. The quality of both sheep and cattle was good. Cattle met with a ready sale at prices on a par with last week’s rates. Wethers were on a par with late rates, but ewes suffered a decline to tho extent of 2s. per head. Hoggets were penned in small numbers and met with keen demand. Lambs were yarded in larger numbers than usual and a total clearance was effected at Is to Is 6d decline'. Prices were as follow:—Extra heavy bullocks, £l7, £l7 ss, £l7 15s, £18; heavy bullocks, £l4 10s, £l5 os £l5 15s, £l6 10s; light cows, £6 ss, £7; extra heavy heifers, £l4 12s fid, £l5; heavy heifers, £l3, £l3 15s, £l4; medium heifers, £9 10s, £9 17s Cd; runners, £7 17s Cd; vcalers, £2 14s, £3 7s, £4, £4 12s Cd, £6. Heavy shorn wethers, 28s Cd, 295, 30s; medium shorn wethers, 26s 3d, 275; 27s (kl; heavy shorn young ewes, 24s 3(1; heavy shorn ewes, 21s 225; woolly hoggets, 27s fid; extra heavy shorn hoggets, 275, 27s Gd; lambs, 21s Cd, 225, 22s Gd, 245, 255.
