ITALIAN MASTERPIECES

A COLOSSAL EXHIBITION CARGO WORTH SEVEN MILLIONS. ANGLO-ITALIAN CO-OPERATION. British Wireless. London, Nov. 10. The work of collecting masterpieces from British collections for the exhibition of Italian art to be held in London in the early months of next year will begin on Monday. A specially constructed lorry will be used for the purpose of conveying 108 of these pictures for assembly at • Burlington House, which is the headquarters of the Royal Academy, where this exhibition will be held. A special ship provided by the Italian Ministry of Marine will leave Genoa next month with 350 great works of art valued at some £7,000,000 that Italy is lending for the exhibition, which will probably°afford the most complete survey of Italian art ever brought together. The vessel will travel close to the coast' so that in the event of stormy weather she will be able to shelter in the nearest port. These masterpieces are now being cleaned and packed in doublelined cases at Milan, and they will be under a strong guard all the way to Britain. At the London docks they will pass into the care of Scotland Yard officers, who will guard sealed vans bringing them to the exhibition.
