In China there ar© about 18,090 miles of roads over which cars can travel in favourable seasons of th© year. The new government is busy with reconstruction and road building as on© of the major means by which it is hoped to unify the country, bring back prosperity and prevent famines. At Shanghai, there aro more than 12,000 passenger cars and trucks. Many individual operators are establishing ’bus lines into the interior.
