Gooch, joint editor of “Brit-§ ish Documents on the Origin of .the War,” lecturing in London, stated: “I must say calmly, on the basis of all the available knowledge, that Germany was dragged into the world war by her ally, Austria, just in the same way as France) was by Russia. Britain was dragged in’ primarily by a deep conviction that she could not stand out and see France smashed and Germany dominating Europe.” ■■■
