MANAGEMENT IN NEW PLYMOUTH. • A meeting of the committee of the New Plymouth branch of the British Red Cross Society was held in the Red Cross rooms recently, there being present Dr. Stenhouee (in the. chair), Mesdames Newman, Martin, Alexander, Clarke, Patrick, Miss Papps, Messrs. Brown and Morgan, Sister Corkill and the secretary (Mies Gibson). A letter was read from the New llymouth Borough Council granting the application of the society to hold a street and house-to-house collection on Maith 21 ' Correspondence was received from headquarters, Wellington, asking for the number of returned soldiers likely to be in hospital during the Christmas season in order that parcels might be forwardCd Sister Corkill presented her monthly report as follows: “The weekly home nursing class is progressing well. Three- teams were formed in New- Plymouth for the Collins Cun competition and country teams W ere about to be formed when word came that thee Wellington teams would be unable to visit New Plymouth before Easter. Though the postponement' of the competition is to be regretted, I have no doubt that the students will be equally keen to compete at Easter, as they have been in the past few weeks. “A. wohien’a detachment has been formed in New Plymoutr. It is composed of 25 Red Cross nursing students and a number of St. John students. It has been arranged that the members shall meet monthly throughout the year in order to keep up their nursing instruction. n have visited four schools with Di. Mecredy and five schools witn Dr Doudl, assistant medical officei, for the "purpose of examining the children. Twelve homes were visited in connection with treatment required for children.
