EVENTS ON RACE TRACKS

DUNEDIN CONCLUDES TO-DAY GUINEAS WILL BE CHIEF EVENT. DUTCH MONEY HAS MANY FRIENDS The Dunedin spring meeting, at which the first classics for the South Island are decided, will conclude to-day. Judging by the good sport on the opening day, the racing promises to be firstclass. The chief event on the programme will be the Dunedin Guineas and ah excellent field of ten is carded. With Carinthia out of the way, Taramoa and Rangitahi will have support. Antrim Boy may be favourite in the Hurdles. Glenrowan is a newcomer in the Kaikorai Handicap and he may find Teinbroney and Some Toff hard to shake off, while some of the lighter-weighted ones will find friends. Glenrowan, however, promises to start a good favourite. Black Duke should be improved by his race the first day and may find a better following in the Shorts Handicap than Meadow Lark and Royal Saxon. Ell Boa seems to be improving all the time and on the strength of his good win on Thursday there may be better support in the Clarendon Handicap for him than for Inevitable and Straight Course.

Then comes the Dunedin Guineas. Blue Metal ran a respectable race in the hack seven on Thursday and Gold Tinge was finishing on in the Electric Handicap. Meprisant was backed and beaten the first day, but he is one likely to favour the extra furlong and he appears to be a useful sort. Aspiring will need to improve a lot on! her race in the Electric Handicap. The brilliant Dutch Money,.after leading most of the way in the hack seven, went away from the field' over the last 100 yards. With 15 pounds off her back she will make the pa.ee merry. Disorder might improve, but Flair, who ran second to Pink Coat at Geraldine, would seem to be a better proposition. It promises to be a good betting race and on form Dutch Money

and Gold Tinge will probably make more appeal than Meprisant. It is doubtful if Speed Light is eligible for the Dominion Handicap, but the brilliant three-year-old would have a host of admirers if started. In her absence Spoon may be next favourite to Al Jolson.

Taboo is more than useful when in form and he won well on Thursday. Circulation led most of the way in the Mos-o-iel Handicap and went under to a good one in Chide. Then Sudden Storm, First Raid and Glenrowan are useful sorts. However, Circulation and Taboo may run prominently in the Telegraph Han-

dicap. Rapier is improving with every race and may be sufficiently forward to give a surprise to many. Taboo, if started, would have friends, and Wingatui, Money Mine and Evening went well on the opening day. Money Mine, Wingatui and Rapier may be prominent at the finish.
