BILLY BOYS TRICK CORNER

DESTROYING A HANDKERCHIEF AND MAKING IT WHOLE AGAIN! Although some little preparation is necessary before this trick can be performed, The things required can be found in any lioniij. A table, covered with a. white cloth is necessary; also you will need a piece of glass about four or six inches, a saucer, a bottle of “magic fluid,” two old clean handkerchiefs, two large pins, a pair of scissors, some tissue paper, and two pieces of narrow ribbon. The “magic fluid” is ordinary soda water which will, of course, be a little flat because it has to be poured into a small bottle; but it will “gas” well if you sprinkle a little fine castor sugar on the saucer into which you will eventually pom’ it. Take two handkerchiefs exactly alike. Mark one with a blue cross in the corner, wrap it in tissue paper, tie it with ribbon, and pin it to the tablecloth, as shown in t'he sketch, just before you commence the trick. When everyone is ready, produce the duplicate handkerchief from your pocket and ask someone to mark the corner with a bln? cross; then tell him to cut it into very small pieces and drop them into t'he saucer. Sprinkle some “magic fluid” from the bottle over them, make a few passes with your “’magic wand.” and ask your assistant to hand you the pieces, which you will then wrap up in tissue paper and tie’ with ribbon in full sight of everyone, making a parcel exactly like th© one you have pinned to t'he cloth. The assistant now places this little parcel in the centre of the table; your pick it up and showjt to the “audience,” replacing it immediately and covering it with the glass so that it is always within sight. Make a few more passes with the

“wand,” raise the glass, and ask your assistant to’ unwrap the parcel. To his astonishment, he will find it contains -a perfectly whole handkerchief! The trick quite simple—the parcel containing the cut-up handkerchief is' exchanged for that containing the whole one when you lift the former to show the audience, you having “palmed” the latter parcel—which has been pinned in readiness to the table cloth all the time —while talking “patter” during the early part of the trick.
