Alisa Nell Vaughan, who has boon the guest of Airs. W. D. Powdrell for the past week or two,’left on her return to Hastings on Thursday. ■ Aliss Ingles, 'who has been spending a’short while in New Plymouth, returned to Hawera during the week. e # # . A committee of ladies of the Kia Ora Croquet Club entertained a number of guests on Wednesday afternoon, when bridge and live hundred were played. Airs. L. J. Bull very kindly lent her home for the occasion. The personnel of the committee was Airs. Leslie Bull, Airs. F. A. Eyans, Airs. Alilroy, Airs. J. Campbell, Airs. W. Al. Winks, and Airs. Stevens, who acted as joint hostesses.- In the dihing-room, in which bridge was in progress,- the floral decorations consisted of, azaleas, irises and apple blossom, and were a delight. The dining-room, .which was utilised for those choosing to,play five hundred, was prettily and daintily arrayed in Iceland poppies of ..the ...jnost delicate hues. Among those 'present were Mrs. W. Airs. Arthur Coleman was hostess at tea on Wednesday afternoon, when ,a few very happy hours were spent, Airs. Coleman receiving her guests attired in a smart afternoon mode of navy crepe-de-chine with trimmings of a lightershade. Aliss Kitty Coleman, who assisted her mother, wore a ; pretty floral crepc-de-ehine frock, blue being the predominating colour.
