| OPUNAKE NEWS. ■ |- ■ ' CROQUET CLUB. ' ' (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Opunake Croquet Club opened the season on Wednesday, visitors from Kaponga being present. The president (Mrs. Jenkin), welcomed the visitors, and called on Mrs. O’Brien to put the . first ball through and declare the green open. Mrs. T. N. Watt, in a neat little speech, presented Mrs. Jenkin with a bouquet. The weather being very wet, no .croquet was played, but a very pleasant afternoon was spent with progressive euchre, Mrs. Evans. (Kaponga) and Mrs. Jenkins being the prize winners. GENERAL. ■ On Wednesday evening the-committee of the Girl Guide Association held a flag bridge party at the residence, of Mr. J. Feaver, sent. Seven /tables . were occupied, the winners being Mrs, Dalrymple, first, Mrs. F. Hammond, second; and Mr. R. Jones third. A dainty supper was dispensed by the committee, after which Mrs. C. A. Smith, president of the association, on behalf of the committee, thanked all who had helped to make the evening successful, particularly Mr. and Miss Feaver for the use of their home for the evening.
