HONORARY UNIVERSITY DEGREH, By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Washington, Oct. 9. Mr. MacDonald received the honor* ary degree of Doctor of Laws front Washington University. He said: “I never attended a university unfortunately. I am like those, of you -who have had to attain education in their spare hours, but I hope you never forget that the finest education is that attained by labour, toil and saving.” Referring to the honour conferred on him, tlfe Premier said: “I take it these robes embody the appreciation of this University for all those who died to promote the clause of peacle ih th® world.” Mr. Ramsay MacDonald visited Mount Vernon this afternoon and deposited wreaths on the tomb of George Washington and on tho grave of the Unknown Warrior. He is taking his formal leave of the President at White Hous® this evening, and leaves to-morrow for Philadelphia and New York.
